Hands-On: Nerf Super Soaker Electrostorm @ iSoaker.com

Well, as noted in the latest blaster thread, got both a Microburst and Electrostorm today. Both are small, but the Electrostorm is roughly twice the size of the Microburst.

As we already know, the Electrostorm is a motorized water blaster. It needs 4AA batteries to work.

The capacity, however, is even less than I had imagined. The reservoir (no clip on this blaster) holds 85mL (the box says 70mL, but I measured slightly more). At least the Nerf Super Soaker Thunderstorm's clips held ~275mL and even that is low.

Oh well...

Can't do much more testing for now. More to come later in the week.

Well, did output testing on the Nerf Super Soaker Electrostorm today.

Got a whopping 5mL/sec (~0.16 oz./sec). Well, it's about 75% as good as the Nerf Super Soaker Thunderstorm in terms of sheer output. Thanks to its ~85mL reservoir and low output, you can get over 14 seconds of continuous shot time.

Will need to wait for warmer weather to do range testing, but I think you guys already have a good idea of how this blaster is going to perform.

My HH Dream pistol gets output of 0.24 oz/sec. The Electrostorm is seriously sad if it can't outgun a piston-trigger-powered piece of junk.

I think I saw a kid with this thing on Friday, it might have been a Thunderstorm, I was driving so I didn't get a good look. He was only 6 but I really wanted to roll down the window and yell, "The new SuperSoakers suck, WaterWarriors are far superior!" I think that whole drive by while yelling something out the window and not crash only works in the movies, I at least didn't want to test it. It would be kind of embarrassing to tell my parents that I hit a parked car after only having my license for like a month.

...I do not think that it would make a quick draw gun. It think I will just stick to buying squirt guns at the dollar store, my money would be better spent that way.

After seeing SS's 2012 lineup, I wouldn't be surprised if some stores carry only WaterWarriors this year.

Do not underestimate the power of advertising budgets. While the 2012 Nerf Super Soaker line's overall performance is poor, they may have a better advertising campaign that retailers really like. There are so many who get persuaded to buy based on what they see in ads versus actually doing critical comparisons on actual products.

That said, the way the Nerf Super Soaker line is developing, I am beginning to question whether to continue to try to review all the new releases on iSoaker.com. Will give them one or two more years, but if things continue in their current direction, I'll begin only picking up interesting-looking water blasters as is done with other less-popular brands like Banzai, X-Stream, etc.

this is sad. and to see actual nerf blasters make a complete u-turn with thier product quality rate, and instead we practically get an "l-turn"

the lines represent the stocks of nerf who is SKYROCKETING and super soaker which is doing the exact oppisite of SKYROCKETING which it should be. Get it?

i drew it up in like <5 minutes. TheSoaker still has it pretty well wrapped-up though. nerf started on a head for the pits, then it stayed there for awhile, and quickly regained momentum. on the other hand, Nerf super shi squir soaker slowly was going down, and then went into the negative zone.

I saw someone carry an Electrostorm today at school, and I saw a picture in our university's student newspaper depicting a soakfest (that I was never aware of) that happened a few weeks ago, where someone was carrying some other Somethingstorm with a drum mag. These things are a bit larger than I expected lol, but their output is so low that they can easily and safely be used indoors. The person I saw with it today went around squirting her friends lol.

But hey, as of late, Battlefield 3 released a patch and added an option for the user to spend money unlocking items in the game that they would otherwise have to play to unlock. You are able to spend up to $40 to get most of the unlocks.

So... No big deal here. Just companies doing stuff that annoys a limited percentage of their demographic just to make more money. In the case of BF3, users have to deal with new players leveling up without working in-game for it. In the case of Hasbro, we have to put up with the disgrace of the Super Soaker name and limit our options to their only competition so far.
