Recently acquired a Super Soaker Point Break!
I'll have to give Hasbro credit for making some great feeling solid water blasters. Sadly, its performance leaves much to be desired. Early testing shows this blaster which is roughly three times larger and heavier than an Super Soaker XP215 only has twice the capacity and similar stream performance. ... but those interested can still clip on a scope if they want!
Anyhow,
pictures of the Super Soaker Point Break posted. Working on a couple of other reviews at the moment, but this one is in the pipeline as well. More info coming soon...

Well, it has a tracked pump at least... Looks like Max-D is the way to go though.

At least BBT has some nice pistols. It is sad that hasbro can't even make a decent PR sidearm.

Please say the quoted range of 16 feet is way conservative or a level range. And that nozzle sure does look puny.

Super Soaker Point Break review posted. The 16' range is probably about right for a level shot. Might be able to get 20' if the wind is right (level shot) and add roughly 5' for an angled shot in general. I do still need to do more formal range testing, though. Warmer weather, where art thou?

While making comparisons, I noticed that the Max-D 2000's picture(s) were taken on a gridded surface and it occured to me that it would be more helpful for making size comparisons between blasters if every one's pictures were taken on that surface. Anyway, it looks like the Point Break is about as big as a Max-D 2000 but with only almost half the capacity and 1/4th of the stream performance, which is pretty pathetic indeed. Hopefully this will just be a phase, and that the Nerf team will start learning how to design medium-low end water guns properly in as short of a time as possible, but I'm not counting on it.

And to think I thought the Point Break would be the most useful Super Squirter of the year? The Hydro Cannon is the best. Has anybody modified that yet?

One person replaced it with a CPS bladder (from a 2000 I think) which boosted the capacity to 600mL or so, and cut a hole in the res to allow the bladder to fill it in. No nozzle mods were done on that blaster though, but it doesn't seem to be difficult to do.

It's a "Classic" design! ...uh... I suppose for the pressures the Point Break creates, a pinch trigger is adequate and cheaper than a ball valve, still performing ok.

Definitely not what that kid on iSoak'd ask Santa for Christmas.
The Point Break I saw at Meijer was about 7 or 8 bucks. Hasbro's really getting crazy with this, and hopefully it will expand opportunities for BBT. Over time, more and more buyers will be able to look past the marketing and packaging and see what they're getting isn't doing the job well.
So we have old-fashioned motorization, piston pumpers, and now pinch valves to add to the list of archaic blaster technology that Hasbro is using. If water warfare equipment were an industry as large as the computer industry, the SS brand would've disappeared well before 2003 ended. Next, they're going to be selling squeeze bottles and squirt guns! (But not just any old squirt gun; one with an enlarged trigger for "high powered blasting action!")

The Point Break appears to be sold as the High Tide in the United Kingdom. This was evidently a fairly late change, since in Argos, the catalogue lists "Point Break" but the blaster on display in one store is the "High Tide".

"Point Break" is "High Tide" in the UK? Thanks for the info!
While I understand why some products are renamed in other countries because of potential issues in translation, not sure why this one is renamed. Perhaps "Point Break" has less relevance in Europe than it has in North America.

That's a cool name. The output levels and capacity levels for these new guns are atrocious.

Just got to test one of these out for the first time...
absolutely love the feel of this thing. It feels amazing and looks super cool. I know I sound like an 11 year old here, but there is a lot of things about the external design that I really love. With that being said, the performance seems identical to what I remember the SS 25 being. This gun uses a pinch valve and everything about the stream screams 1992. The nozzle/output/range/capacity is less than the SS 30s my brother and I had. Those were 99 rereleases though, and I have no idea if Larami enlarged the nozzle or not, but the performance is definitely on par with what I remember of my SS 25. Really funny.
