Yes, I did get it from Argos XP I wonder why it's a different colour scheme though... And I did take the sticker off, it was annoying me lol. I will try to test how many pumps work best tomorrow, as I can't fire anywhere today with out hitting a "Big Lunch" :P (Street parties held today for the diamond jubilee for anyone living outside the UK). For me, the pump almost always goes solid before I hear a squeal, providing there is a good amount of water in the gun, so I'll make sure to pump until that happens :).

Tell that to the people who were down the road playing loud music in a gazebo next to a bouncy castle with several tons of union flag bunting strewn about :goofy:.

Wait, just looked it up and you're right XD Epic neighbor fail  Although it was raining a lot yesterday, I guess they waited for nice weather. You have to love summer in England

 Blasting the TV maybe? (Jubilee Music festival is on about now).

Never mind, bit late for range tests now anyway.

Back on topic, I don't see why the Argos Renegades have black components either. Did the sticker say Snap-it Renegade or Ultimate Renegade? I know they advertise it as Snap-it, but they advertise the Steady Stream and Sphinx (which should be a sphynx as it's an air pressure blaster) as a Chad Valley (own brand) blaster, when (and I'm pretty sure about this) they sell both of them as Water Warriors blasters. :-?

DX wrote:The best way to figure out the optimal amount of pumps would be to plot a range curve. Probably way more effort then you need to take for a simple 3v3 war, but the theory is to prime it a set number of times, then pump the water in, then measure the range, and repeat this process. If you try no priming at first and work your way up to like 15 pumps, you'll have 16 data points with different ranges. It should form a curve and the peak of the curve is where you get the highest range. Whatever that point ends up being is the amount of times to prime your soaker.
I plan on doing some studies like this when I get home. Remember the study on layers of balloons vs range, shot time, and output I did for the 1500? But since you came up with the idea and you're the one in the states... I think you should do some studies like this in the mean time. :D

I love the black on the Renegade. Looks a lot better. I bought one, along with a Colossus, after Hydropocalypse. Both would have been better options than the XP 75/shotblast we had to use; although I'm still not sure if I would take those 2 over an SC 600.

Argos are weird :oo: This reminds of the time I went to Comet and they a Packard Bell liberty tab labeled as an Asus transformer TF101  I told 2 members of staff and they both told me if the label said it was an Asus it was an Asus, even though it actually said "Packard Bell" on the back -__-

Anyway, my friend (the crazy awesome at every sport ever one) is back from his holiday, and we agreed to have the water fight before I go on mine, so not too long until my first proper water fight =D

Oh, and the sticker said Snap-it Renegade, no mention of ultimate anywhere on the website or blaster =/

Edit: Ninja'd by marauder4

In response to him, I'll try to test what gives the best range today (though with my luck, I'll put out the Olympic torch xP )
Yea, I like the black version too :)

You don't have a link for that by any chance? :)

That is odd. And Toys R Us also sell the steady stream as an 'own-brand' (sizzlin' cool) water gun, alongside their cheap rubbish of the same brand. :-?

I really don't get it.

This is really odd, Toys R Us are selling the original Steady Stream under their Sizzlin' Cool brand o_0 Why? It just makes it harder to find the blaster you want, and hard to pick out the good stuff from the... Well, this: Edit: Broken link =/ tinyurl won't fix either...

When the only review says the current super soaker line are better, you KNOW the it has to be bad XD

You must mean this.

It looks like a really rubbish combination of a monster XL, an XP 250 and a Hydra Pak.

Yet they would still recommend it to a friend???? :-?

EDIT: Main image is a game of spot the fakes!

Maybe an annoying friend?

I don't see any non-fakes... except the Steady Stream, which I don't think is in the image... Which are real?

Technically the Mega Blaster isn't a fake, it's just their own rubbish! :goofy:

The green pistol grip in the background is in fact a steady stream. :)

Ah, okay then. I've been checking Ebay, and found a Sphinx (Sphynx to Americans) for under £15 =/ Maybe I should have gotten that...

Maybe, but range and output aren't everything. As far as I can tell, the Sphynx's grip area is smaller than the Ultimate Renegade's so, depending how large your hands are, the Sphynx is probably less comfortable to hold. It was the small grip area that stopped me getting an Expedition (Blazer re-make). Usability is a huge factor. A Colossus for around the same price would have been a good buy though. I might get one if the grip is roomy enough.

Plus being an ultimate blaster, you could have a secondary blaster attached to it (in case you need something smaller, or run out of water).

Yea, but the cheapest option is the Bandit, and unless it is £3 or less, it would mean I break the £15 rule... This is a test of finding a good deal on good blasters as much as it is a water fight.

Right, so you can only bring £15 worth of blasters? I assumed no individual blaster over £15. It's a thought for future battles though, especially as the current blasters don't come with slings.

Yea, £15 worth of everything, shipping and any accessories included. You're right though, a Bandit underneath would be a good addition to my armory (of 1 XD). BTW, do Toys R Us have any other Water Warriors in disguise? Or just the Steady Stream? (Since I only started to realize Super Soaker weren't the only mainstream brand of blasters last Thursday, I'm too noobish to know =P )

Why can't you just buy the sphynx or a colossus and bring that instead?

I don't think so. I mentioned Argos has an own-brand Sphynx and their Quick Grip XL's are Water Warriors too (but they really are just squirt guns not blasters).

Take a look at the stats on isoaker. If you feel your Renegade won't be enough, go for it. But if you're new to this it's probably best not to get too many expensive blasters too soon. You'll probably only use one of them to begin with anyway. If you're planning on having many more, possibly larger, battles in the future, then by all means start an armoury. You can always lend them out to a n00bz0Яz. (Actually wait, that might not be a good idea! You'll get: "What does this do?" SNAP! :goofy: ).

To be fair, £15 out of £814.87 won't sting too much. If you can find that much cash in the first place the extra £15 won't make much difference. Nevertheless, I would stick to the one blaster for now, until you know you'll use them. One other thing, atvan mentioned a backpack with water bottles for quick refilling away from a tap. If you modify the bottles, you can fill up much quicker.

You might want to add a sling/strap to the renegade? It's not that heavy, but can be useful (especially when getting bottles out of a backpack).

Is the event tomorrow or Sunday?
