Speed Loaders is one brand that I definitely remember seeing in the stores, but couldn't afford to test out back-in-the-day. Memory tells me they first appeared around 1998, but not sure if they were out sooner. They appeared definitely before the SC series by Super Soaker and those were released in 1999.
Anyone recall when soakers like the Speed Loader 1000 and/or 1500 were actually released?

Apparently, they were released in 1999-2000. Odd, since Hasbro copied the QF idea off W3. You might want to ask Zoccoz, if he's still around, as he has a site dedicated to Speedloaders.

I've still got my Speed Loader 1000 and Power Surge 2500, on both of them it says 1998, so I'm assuming that was when they were copyrighted. So they I'm fairly sure they were released in 1999.
For more Speed Loader information you can go to my site to find reviews of the 1000 and Power Surge 2500.
Hopefully that'll help.

@Aqua_Flash: Somehow, though, I recall Speed Loaders appearing the summer before Super Chargers appears which would put their release in the summer of 1998. My CPS 2000 has a copyright stamp stating 1996, but was definitely released in 1996 (as I definitely remember buying it that year).
As an aside, yup, seen your reviews before, but forgot you had some copyright info on the pages.

I'll ask the guy who invented the Speedloader system (his name is Joel) by email when they were first released. Hydrowar says 1999, though I think I can remember them earlier.

@Ben: ZOCCOZ's Speed Loader page also says 1999, but that doesn't quite jive with the fact that Speed Loaders pre-dated Super Chargers by at least a season. Any insight that can be offered through contacting the inventor would be definitely appreciated.

To be honest i just got the information from Hydrowars. Back then in 98 I was unaware of Speedloaders due to the fact that i considered myself to old for soakers back then.
It very well could have come out 1998. While generaly the copyrights are 1 year ahead, certain retail projects are more last call and released earlier after they have been conceptualized. Might also have been that the legal stuff came later in its official form than usual and much closer to the release date. Since SS copied the Speedloader concept I would say its paralel to the CPS 2500 and CPS3000 when quickfill wasn't famous.
