Next Years Rumored Super Soakers
Haha For once it's my turn to post new stuff about new SS's. While browsing the web I came acrossed this. http://urbantaggers.blogspot.com/2012/1 ... -pack.html
It seems as though Super Soaker is releising Power Soak Technology stinks and replacing it with piston pumpers, Discuss.

If you ever bother reading these, I worry for your mental sanity.

Re: Next Years Rumored Super Soakers
I guess they release them earlier in Australia because they are having their summer while we are having our winter? Hmmm.... well wow these look like they are going to all suck. I actually find that surprising as I thought that all trends would eventually come to an end and it really can't get much lower than this...
The Shockwave and the new Arctic Shock are going to be so awkward to use with the clip hanging out from the bottom - especially if you are 10 or younger. I know I shouldn't be disappointed, but I am. Well, good thing there's always BBT. I really like my Gorgon.

Not much to discuss here because there's nothing new at all yet. Moving on as usual.
Heck, if I posted this link, I'd put it in the off-topic section just because Nerf SS has the capability of dollar store water guns, sold for 10-20 times of the price.Though to be fair, I think we need to examine and look at Ja-Ru's new products too, since they both operate in essentially the same segment of the water toys market.
Now here's to the day Hasbro starts producing something at least remotely useful for half-serious water warfare. Until then, I will consider my computer a greater contributor to water warfare than virtually any available Hasbro product could possibly be.

Re: Next Years Rumored Super Soakers
Well, they look better than this year's anyway... Are they ALL piston blasters? At least they're going back to Aquapaks (or whatever they call them now). But I agree with CA99; 'Super Soaker' has been dead since 2003. Will they ever come back? Probably not.
When I first got into water guns, I brought a whole pile of Ja-Ru products before I discovered Storm and Super Soaker.

Re: Next Years Rumored Super Soakers
I would argue 2006... the Flash Flood was rather devastating during the later Vermin Wars, and I know it was extensively used in Ridgwood vs Waterbridge. Pretty deadly gun even if they did end up breaking. Also, CPS 4100s were rereleased in 2004 I believe, which I need to amend on my site.SEAL wrote:Well, they look better than this year's anyway... These guns don't look as cool as the Hydrocannon, the Electrostorm, Scatterblast, Tornado Strike, or the Point Break in my opinion. The giant clips hanging out the bottom of them make them look very unbalanced.

Re: Next Years Rumored Super Soakers
Sure, the Flash Flood was a good gun, but it compares more to BBT blasters than 'true' Super Soakers. I never consider anything built after 2002 to be real Super Soakers. Real Super Soakers should outperform every other stock water gun on the market. That's just how I feel about it, being a rather nostalgic person.
For the heck of it, I will go over the new models, like I usually do every year.
Arctic Shock: This kind of reminds me of a prediction I made way back in that Anti-Dream Gun thread at SSC. I believe I mentioned some kind of Arctic Shock re-release that was piston-powered instead of with a PC. Not only did it come true, but this thing also has a mag reservoir. This basically looks like a Vaporizer with a magazine. I wonder how the water is chilled? On the site, they mention that the mags chill the water. Not sure how that would work, unless they have some kind of ice-core system like the original AS.
Shotwave: Just a smaller Vaporizer with a mag. Not a whole lot to say about that, though it looks like it's specifically designed for this new "Hydro Pack".
Switch Shot: Uhh, isn't this basically the same thing as the new Arctic Shock (we'll have to call it the Nerf Arctic Shock to avoid confusion...if you actually care)??? Though it looks like it has some kind of gimmick to it. It even has what I assume to be a "cold-water-mag".
Hydro Pack: Just an Aquapak that's compatible with the mag system. This isn't really a bad thing, but my only complaint is the same one I had with the original Aquapak; 100oz is too damn small. Those who have never owned an Aquapak should know that they're about as big as an average person's upper leg.
Things I noticed: There is a "Super Soaker X-TREME" logo on the Hydro Pack box. I guess it's just another new line from Hasbro. Sheesh, how many different lines have they had since they took over Larami? Also, I notice that all the new blasters look alike. Lastly, it seems like Hasbro is focusing more on their "clip" system this year than motorized blasters, even though it appears the T-storm will still be produced. Hey, it's an improvement. Haha, haha, hah... You know your blasters suck when these things are an improvement over the previous year's...

Re: Next Years Rumored Super Soakers
I can't take you seriously. We've got some guy, who wasn't even around in 2002 telling us he's nostolgic for "true Super Soakers," and that the Flash Flood isn't a "real Super Soaker" because it doesn't outperform BBT blasters. Neither does the XP 150. Neither does the SS 50, or the SC 600, the XP 110, or the Splashzooka. So, we shouldn't count these guns as "true Super Soakers" because a Gorgon is a better gun?SEAL wrote:Sure, the Flash Flood was a good gun, but it compares more to BBT blasters than 'true' Super Soakers. Or perhaps, you might qualify your statement by explaining that these guns truly were the best on the market at the time, but the Flash Flood was not. Were they truly the best guns on the market at the time? I could make a strong argument that Speed Loaders were superior to most Super Chargers. I could make a strong argument that the Storm 750 was a better gun than the XP 240. If a "true Super Soaker" has to outperform my Gorgon then you probably only have 2 "true Super Soakers," your CPS 2700 and your CPS 1200, and to be honest with you I would probably still choose my Gorgon or my Vindicator over your 1200.
The fact of the matter is, we all want to see guns with at least a 5x nozzle which are capable of clearing 40 feet. All of us here are big fans of the old CPS series, whether we were around for it or not. The truth of the matter, though, is that the Water Warriors series is still better than 3/4ths of the Super Soakers ever released, and more powerful. BBT was also founded by the very people who made your "true Super Soakers" back in the late 90s and early 2000s.

Re: Next Years Rumored Super Soakers
Personally, I couldn't care less about what makes a "true" Super Soaker as long as it has good use on the field.
Re: Next Years Rumored Super Soakers
Thanks for the post (yeah, I'm late replying, but that's another story)!
As for the apparent upcoming models, well, their recent piston-based blasters still tended to perform better than the motorized ones, so it *is* an increase in the performance column. However, when it comes to overall blaster technology, it seems like we're seeing a general regression from once CPS > air pressure > motorized > piston-based. It'll be interesting to see how these blasters end up selling versus what the competition brings to the table.

Even though a 100oz backpack isn't big, it's an improvement over current Nerf SS.
