New NERF SS Clip?

Whilst looking around for a new NERF gun (dart, not water... I swear!

) I came across
this.
Probably not a lot of community interest in something like this, but more capacity has got to be a plus! Maybe you could get through a whole war without reloading?

Well, i just think it's stupid.
The only 'clip' system that's good IMHO is the triple charge.

Interesting; well, it's a little over double the capacity of the original clip. Still not a huge amount of water compared (and less than their "water drum").
Some may like these for their looks, of course, but unless the blaster performances increase, greater capacity is only so meaningful.

It's a magazine, not a clip.
Anyway, this is bad news for me, since it means that Hasbro will probably continue making this stupid mag system, though hopefully they'll start phasing out battery-powered squirt guns soon. Hasbro has really not stuck well to their designs in the past, although that was before they became part of Nerf.
I really don't see the appeal of having a mag on a water gun. Obviously, the main thing is that you can carry around extras and swap them in and out faster than you can reload a normal reservoir, but since onboard reservoirs typically hold more water, you probably won't need to refill at all!

And I've just been shouting at people for exactly this!
I realised after I made the thread, but couldn't change it, so hoped no-one would notice, but that obviously didn't work.
Technically yes this is not a clip, a clip is what you load into the top of an M1 Garand (or straight into a mag if you happen to have a speedloader) and a mag is what you load into... well... pretty much everything else!
A clip comes as is (pre-loaded with rounds), whereas you have to load a magazine with rounds (or darts) first. Hasbro just call them clips because a lot of people think that's what clips are.

I was mostly joking. I think it's funny that Hasbro calls all of it's magazines (for water guns as well as Nerf.) clips, and then it has this one Nerf gun that uses a clip, which they call a magazine. As we have proved, even common people know the difference.

I should know better anyway having worked with mag-fed rifles for nigh on 6 years now.
It could be partly down to the gaming world:
[Rant]
In almost all WW2 based games you hear the something along the lines of "I'm out of ammo... I need a new clip" so the assumption by most is that a clip is a magazine. Of course the game is accurate (the M1 Garand did use a clip-fed system [unless it's a really bad game and the guy screaming this is actually holding a Thompson, or an M1 carbine

]) just some people don't realise this. They run around with their friends calling their mags clips and, before you know it, clip=mag!

I don't see why it matters if it's a clip or a magazine since... it's used on a watergun =P. This is great for all the steampunk modders out there. Probably a bit more useful than the regular clips er I mean magazines, but ultimately this will affect battling little, if not at all for our community considering all the guns that are compatible with it suck.

For the sake of argument (always fun) I would like to say that this is indeed a clip. Nerf guns (exept the magstrike

) use mags, but the closest thing we have to a mag is the PC (or pump on these things). A clip is generally static while magazines tend to be springloaded. Also, the M1 Garand had a magazine- it was built into the gun.

But the Garand had a clip which you loaded into the fixed magazine.
I see your point, but the NERF SS line seems to try and mimic the NERF N-strike line, as well as (loosely) real firearms.
Also a magazine isn't completely inserted into a weapon (most of it sticks out), whereas a clip is, well, just a clip which holds the ammo, and is simply used to fill the magazine. Either fully inserted into the weapon (M1 Garand) or used to fill a removable magazine (NATO stripper clip).
There have been (really rubbish prototype only) gravity fed magazine systems (i.e. without springs) so that is another area where the line blurs.
I'd still call them mags for three reasons:
- They are designed to imitate magazines.
- Clips are usually discarded after use, whereas mags are re-used and re-bombed.
- Every time Hasbro calls something a clip, it's a magazine, and every time they call something a magazine it's a clip!

In summary... marauder's probably right, it matters little, as they're just removable res' shaped like mags.

Jeez you guys!

I was just joking when I said that it was a magazine not a clip, because of all the arguments that have taken place in the past. I have always called them magazines, but I really couldn't care less what others call them. How about we just call them "removable reservoirs" from now on?

Crap is easier to type.
I just joined into the discussion, not started it.
