Still a steep price paid for squirt guns, lol. My personal rule for picking up piston-trigger squirt guns is they need to be found in the wild. I have three this way, each from a different state.

Image
^ This small one was made by Banzai and was found on a beach in Leesylvania State Park, along the Potomac River on the Virginia side.

Image
^ This larger one is too darkly stained from being in a river to see who made it. It has 2 nozzles and shoots pretty far. It came from a large, remote wilderness park somewhere north of Port Jervis on the Neversink River in New York state. Literally, the middle of nowhere.

The third is not pictured because I didn't have a camera on me when I found it. It's the same as the first model, but blue from being in the ocean. I got it off Long Beach West in Stratford, CT.

These are sadly still better than most Nerf Super Soakers, and probably competitive with the 2014 ones, too.

$0.44 is easier for me than wandering down the Clinton river forever in search of these things, that may be clogged or non-working.

I got really exited about the tri strike crossbow, until I looked at the picture. By the name I thought it would be something like the Power Soaker Pumper II (basically a stream machine with a tank), but no, it is just a pump action gun that looks like a crossbow - lame! Not that I am surprised, but a stream machine with a tank/backpack water supply would have major potential. Something tells me this years gun will sell very poorly. Super Soaker stopped selling because of the name years ago, every one I know who has bought one got them because of the clip system and no pumping. Now they don't even look cool. NSS is going to fail in the market this year. If somehow the outsell Water Warriors, then my faith in humanity will be completely lost.

I really hope that there is a significant drop in sales, and not because people are no longer interested in waterguns. The only problem I forseee is that switching to piston pumpers only could be a tactic to counter a drop in sales. These are the cheapest blasters to make, so sales may drop but they will still make a good profit margin on each one. But that's just my best guess.

may I just point out the the WW equivalents Avenger, Gremlin, Gargoyle, Shark and Steady stream 2 use the same system but cost only 4 to 8 $

@the oncoming storm: don't include the Steady Stream in the class of a piston-base blaster - the Steady Stream blasters offer a definite advantage over strictly piston-based blasters and don't cost much to buy, either. :goofy: Based on Hasbro pricing, were they to make a Stready-stream-like blaster, it'd retail for $25-$30. :oo:

Can't really be hating on the Steady Stream (2). That little thing absolutely wipes the floor with NSS and you can keep it shooting at-range until it runs dry with zero effort. The lag it experiences is actually an advantage if you need to suppress a lot of enemies.

Looks like the Nerf Super Soaker Scatterblast also got a makeover for 2014.

^It looks like just a recoloring to me. That's exactly the same (but a different color) as the one that my brother found. However it was redesigned in either 2012 or 2013; the one we have is different from the one on isoaker.com (an original 2011 release).

Good point! I had forgotten that the styling had already changed then. Could you send a pic to me for reposting on iSoaker.com? I should add the variant into the database.

The Scatterblast is pretty fun, but also pretty useless. I did actually fight with it once, just because. I used it against and XP 270 on the beach and ended up doing decent enough simply because I kept the wind at my back at almost all times.

On the flip side, I handed over the Scatterblast and then went unarmed against it, seeing if I could reach the user before they could even hit me. Sadly enough I was able to get there almost 50% of the time simply by, again, keeping the wind at my back. You don't think that one pump is a lot of time, but you can seriously close the difference between yourself and someone (and tackle them into the waves :goofy: ) in that amount of time if you can force them to miss within 15 feet.

I also like firing the Scatter Blast up in the air and walking into the mist of its shot falling down when out walking or hiking. Haha

I suppose the Scatterblast is one of the new breed of soakers that you don't worry about getting soaked too quickly! :goofy: Nice for misting yourself? That's both funny and sad at the same time... :oo:

On the other hand, I suppose lower output water blasters make free-for-all soakfests last longer...

I tested Ben's and had great difficulty measuring ranges...there is no last puddle...the droplets are small, too, so they dry up on concrete faster. Without a spotter, you have to drop the gun, run over, and get the mark quickly.

^^ So do water bottles with a hole stabbed in the cap, except they cost a lot less than NSS trash.

Nope, and the ergonomics suck. They cost almost nothing though, depending on how you count it. (i.e. Do you buy bottled water for the water, the bottles, or both?)

Well, there's at least one pressurized Super Soaker being re-released under new colors: Nerf Super Soaker Zombie Strike Point Break Battle Blast Soaker. This new styling should definitely help during the zombie apocalypse. :oo:

Update: As Zombies generally are on the lookout for brains, anyone wielding these would undoubtedly be a low source of food for them. :goofy:

No zombie is safe when you've got this maximum soaker in your arsenal.
Unleash a tidal wave of soakage at your zombie targets with the Point Break Battle Blast soaker!
over 16 feet of soaking action!
Odd descriptions for something less powerful than a ss50...

At least the point break is somewhat decent. I think zombiestrike is now the first nerf line to have both dart blasters and soakers.

The Zombie logo is pretty sweet, and I don't mind the orange or the lime green... but not both... and not as the entire color scheme. That is just wayyyyy tooo bright and jarring. The colors need to be balanced. The Point Break is one of the coolest feeling blasters out there, but yeah, performance wise it's just an SS 25. I think I measured 20 ft range on mine, but I'm not completely sure, and I don't care enough about this blaster to go back and check haha.
