Special thanks to TAKrogoth of TechSoaker fame for this one. 8-9 year old well used and repaired soaker... strapless... but still fires like a beauty! Not quite the same kick as the original, but almost (I'm probably just biased. :goofy: ) I'll push up pics and stats in due time. I still need to do the Xenon review.

Cool, I so want a CPS 2000 that I can use. I have an Mk2 NIB but I can't really open that since its just such a hard thing to come by these days. I hope I can get one used off eBay soon (hopefully an Mk1). Anyway, enjoy using yours. :)

A NIB CPS2000 Mk2 is a nice collectable (though, let's face it, the value of the typical water blaster doesn't appreciate that much). I wouldn't mind locating a NIB CPS2000 mk1 for collection purposes, but then again, these soakers sort-of scream to be used. :goofy:

Yeah, the NIB CPS 2000 Mk2 I have screams to be used too. But I would just feel guilty opening it since to me its something special nowadays. Its looks nice in its box how it is. :goofy:

Ah, one less 2000 for me. Will it ever end? :O I just had to pass up the chance to get one when I was 6.

Isoaker, is there any real difference other than a few feet of distance in the CPS 2000 marks I and II?

The only REAL difference as far as I can tell is that you can get more full shots from the Mk2 since the Mk1 has a larger pressure chamber than the Mk2. Otherwise, they're pretty much identical (though the one I have is most definitely second hand, though still behaving quite well. However, as it's not new plus the fact that it's old for a soaker, I really can't make a completely fair comparison).

There is a Mk1 that I have seen that ends soon and my dad has let me bid on it since I did well in my exams. If I win I will post a review, and since a CPS 2000 is special to me I will probably make it more detailed and will include pictures.

Best of luck WB, I wish I was able to do that. Oh well. I'm interested in the 2500 I saw before.

Thanks. Hope you get that 2500 you were after. The good thing is about the Mk1 that I want to bid on is that it hasn't been used much. Only 5 times the seller said to me so it still works perfect.

Sorry for the double post.

Update! The auction for the Mk1 ended today and I won! The price I won it for I was very happy with and was a lot less than I thought it would go to. Hopefully I will be able to review it soon when it arrives and provide pictures.

^ Nice! Lucky you! Part of me would love to have a NIB CPS 2000, but then I'd feel bad about having such a beautiful soaker that's screaming to be used. Oh well... I'm digressing. Enjoy your new acquisition and tell us about it when you get a chance!

Sorry for the late update but I have been quite busy lately.

Well, my CPS 2000 Mk1 came today. Man, isn't it amazing! I'm very impressed with it and think its the best gun in my armoury. Shoots the farthest I've seen and its beam is so cool and drenching. Me and my friend were playing with it this evening and we had loads of fun watching the shots soar off into the sunset. Very nice. :) I will post a review sooner or later and will probably have a picture. You have my permission to put it up. :goofy:

Just thought I'd revive this topic so I could share my thoughts on my Mk. 2 that I bought off Trademe (NZ's online auction site) for only $30NZD. I was shocked to even see one in New Zealand so I was really pleased when I won the auction with no other bids. Had to replace the trigger when it snapped after only an hour's use...but seems to work okay now. I was pretty impressed with it's power, feels like my de-nozzled 2700 on steroids. I was a bit disappointed with the range though, after reading about other Mk. 2's shooting 50+ feet I was a bit let down when it only shot 40-45 feet...it's probably because it's quite old and has been well used. I just wanted to clarify if there was actually any difference in nozzle sizes between the mk1 and mk2 as Wild Boys stated in his review. I measured the nozzle on mine (with a drill bit) to be exactly 1cm in diameter. Can anyone else verify the nozzle size on their mk1? Anyway, it's a very nice gun, the looks I get sometimes when just holding this thing are priceless. I'm looking forward to testing it in a battle today!

That nozzle size on my MK1 in the review was an estimate. Since I am starting to take proper stats and I'll probably do it on my CPS 2000 Mk1 today I will let you know. Enjoy your CPS 2000!

Very sorry again for the double post.

I have now got proper stats on my CPS 2000 Mk1. I'll list the important ones like the range and output.

Output/sec
24.6oz

Range

Level 10.5m - 34.65'
45 degrees 15.5m - 51.15'

So, the output wasn't 30x, more nearer to 25x with proper inspection. But the range is very good. The thing is though, I measured the nozzle, and its 1cm, the same as on the Mk2. So now it seems that a lot facts about the CPS 2000 seem to be changing. :goofy:

I enclose pictures.

If I can and when I get a CPS 2000 Mk2 I will come back on this topic and post my further findings. :)

Thanks for the info Wild Boys, that's one nice 2000 you've got there! Mine's been giving me grief, snapped it's original trigger in a couple of hours, and now has put a crack in the SC 400 trigger I put in there. I still need to find some way of making an unbreakable trigger...anyway, when it was working properly I also estimated the output to be around 25x, as the 650ml pressure chamber emptied in just under a second. So it seems that the outputs for the Mk1 and Mk2 might be almost identical...the only difference, as isoaker noted, being the shorter shot time of the Mk2.

However, I have read in the original CPS 2000 specifications that the Mk1 has a 45 p.s.i chamber, yet the 2500 (which apparently has the same PC as the 2000 mk2) is only 26 p.s.i. If this is so, how does the Mk2 manage to have similiar output as the Mk1 yet with significantly less pressure? Perhaps isoaker *hint hint* can shed some light on this for us... :;):

Internal pressure is one stat that I just don't have the capability of measuring presently. For those who measure PSI, exact what and how are you doing that measurement?

If it is true that the original CPS2000 had an internal p.s.i. of 45 while the CPS2500 and latter version CPS2000 only have a p.s.i. rating of 26, perhaps the difference is how long the p.s.i remains constant. The Mk1 maybe maxes out at 45 p.s.i., but may behave like is has an average p.s.i. of 26 during the length of the whole shot. However, I'm just guessing and have not done any p.s.i. measurements, myself.

The PSI rating is what was actually measured by the manufacturer. I found the original instruction and specfication charts in pdf format for various older super soakers on the internet. I can send you the CPS 2000 one if you like. This is where I found out that the CPS 2000 was 45 p.s.i, compared to 22-23 p.s.i for the '98 cps line (excluding the 2500 of course). How would I go about sending you the file?

nah... don't worry 'bout sending the file. After I found out more detail about how they did nozzle ratings, I was disappointed. :goofy:
