@CA99: once docked, my full screen width becomes 3520 (1920x1080 + 1600x900 monitors). Having lots of screen real-estate makes doing some work much, MUCH easier. Can do lots of multiple comparisons, work while being able to keep an eye on incoming emails, keeping some chats open while working in other applications, and so much more. I'm tempted to pick up another larger monitor so I can have two 1920x1080 monitors together, but all in due time. My docking station only supports two monitors at a time, but while laptops are definitely more expensive than desktops and more limited in graphics and processing power, I need the portability too much and don't want to be syncing files. Ok, this is digressing...
When it comes to designing stuff for the web, while many people have higher-resolution monitors, I still tend to err on the conservative side when designing graphics and websites. I usually assume that people browse at ~1024px and scale everything down accordingly. I, personally, don't use full screen browsing much and prefer having multiple windows open (and browsers with multiple tabs, too, plus multiple windows).
