Nothing weird about Santa-hat smileys. There's always at least one that keeps his hat all year and the other angry one is upset that he can't get it off!

You'd be angry,too, if you were still forced to wear a Santa-hat!
As for the first line of this limerick, well, it does take a little brains to overcome peer pressure and get disinterested people to actually try out and then have fun at having a water fight. If getting people to have water wars were so simple, there wouldn't be so many complaints about lack of players available in local settings.

I just noticed this:
"Water wars are for kids. Lame puny streams..." and despite the fact that the guy has been handed a superior blaster, he is aghast in surprise when blasted by a Tiger Shark. Maybe the 1200 was empty, heh.
