Which dremel do you use for modding/repairs/home mades?
Which accessories do you find most useful?
I want to get a dremel, but I'm not sure which way to go. I searched Target's website, but they don't have any...which is a real shame 'cuz I was gonna put it on our wedding gift registry

I'm sure there is better info over at nerfhaven for this sort of thing. However, I assume that any dremel that isn't cheapo crap should be fine.

I never use dremels when I perform surgery (I usually use hacksaws and exacto knives.), but if I did, I would probably pick one from a high-quality brand, such as Craftsman, Bosch, etc. Not sure about accessories, but I'd probably get a very fine cutting wheel before anything else.

Try a secondhand source like in a bargains section. If you are willing to do some research, you could get a good quality older model for a yard sale style price. This is how I got my drill press. 1/3 the price I would have paid in a hardware store for a known quality model with higher quality components.

I have grinding stones and disks for mine. Unfortunately, I can't find the disks but good thing I don't need it often.
http://www.sscentral.org/homemade/supercps.html uses a Dremel and grinding disk for cutting the PVC.

I have a cordless Dremel from ~6 years ago. It was part of a boxed package with a lot of accessories, including saw, sanding, and grinding discs. The battery still holds a very good charge (I have to recharge it every couple of days, but then again I use my Dremel quite a bit).
I think I bought the box at Home Depot for around 50 USD.
Definitely a great tool for modding! You definitely don't need the most powerful Dremel for working on plastics, but if you need it for general DIY around-the-house maintenance, you might want to consider getting a bigger one.
