I have just purchased an SS 300. I had been previously bidding on one at auction on Ebay, however I was outbid at the last minute and was unable to win it.

This was two weeks ago.
This week, I got a message from the high bidder offering to sell it to me.
The high bidder had been purchasing it for his son, who apparently did not enjoy it at all and preferred to use a smaller blaster. This does make sense, as at least as far as I have seen, it does take a fairly large person to use an SS 300.

Anyways, after a little bit of negotiating, I haggled down to 45.00 plus shipping for the blaster, which I think is a more than fair price for such an old gun in such great condition. I sent payment and the blaster should arrive this saturday.

Here is the link to the auction.

It looks in VERY GOOD condition.

Anyway, the reason that I'm sharing this is to ask if anyone here has had experiences with this gun and can tell me about anything that I should know when I use it. Any general usage tips or just important things...
anything really.

Thanks!

I bought one new in box off eBay in early 2005. It is a great soaker. As the box said, it can shoot 50 feet. Using it is similar to using an APH: both guns do not have a trigger and have large pressure chambers. The gun is very light when empty though. In addition, the pump volume is very high to compensate for the three huge PCs.

Many people complain that the backpack is too rigid and is uncomfortable; I did not have trouble with the backpack though. Many people also dislike the single nozzle. Lastly, the SS 300 feels very weak. It feels like it would break at any time. In all, the SS 300 is an excellent gun despite its shortcomings.

Lt. Col. Drench pretty much summed it up. The SS300 is a great blaster, but need to be treated well since it does feel somewhat fragile. Its single nozzle stream is very impressive and the backpack holds a good amount of water, but not sure I'd want to be running with this thing one simply since I don't think it'd handle a fall or sudden change in direction very well.

Thank you both.
My guess is that this will remain more on the shelf as an addition to my collection, rather than a battle weapon. I'll take it out on special occasions with people I trust to be safe, but otherwise keep it carefully hung up with my other large guns.

I have received the 300 and am very impressed with the performance. I will most likely not use it in battle much, as I mentioned earlier.

It is definitely fragile.
As well, you can see here how the rear end of the soaker definitely mimics the buttstock of a rifle, something that I am further impressed by. I had not noticed this before, at least until I saw it first in person.

My ONE gripe is with stream lamination, for some reason mine is poor. I assume that this is restricted to my gun, I will need to do something...

The only real problem with the SS300 is its fragility. It has great stats, but I always feel like I'm going to break it. The firing valve is usable but different to say the least. I was always partial to my CPS 1200, so I have never used my SS 300 in battle. It is nice to shoot every once in a while though.

Lamination issues sounds like something got into the nozzle or area leading up to the nozzle or that the nozzle, itself, is damaged somehow.

I recall when firing my SS300 that its lamination wasn't perfect, but it wasn't bad, either.

I'd like to see some pics of it in action. I don't many of those exist.

Were it easier for me to dig mine out, I'd take some pics, too, but presently, it's just not really feasible for me. Hopefully Cobralex297 might be willing to take some shot pics of this sweet, old-school soaker.

I will see what I can do. Currently I have very little free time, and the SS 300 takes more time to set up than I'd like, but as soon as I can I will.
