Large storm guns (2500, 2200e, etc.) should not cost you more than $25. They were made by Jack's Pacific which was a department of Trendmasters I believe.

I will be putting together a review for the 2200e during the off season.

Okay, I know a little of who Jack's Pacific is. But you're sure a storm costs that much. not that that's expensive, but I thought that with the recession and age of storm it would be worth a little less. Anyhow, thanks for the info!

Storm guns are famous for their durability, so age doesn't really matter. If you see lower prices, it's mainly because it's a relatively unknown brand that doesn't have the top tier performance that makes people fawn over CPS.

Storms also have great stream lamination and the most efficient pumps ever. The downfall of Storms is that they almost all used the exact same size nozzle, which was around 1x. The 2500 has a 3x nozzle on the pump which can act as a piston pumper. You can use this in tandem with the primary 1x nozzle which works well together in a soakfest. The 2100 had a "dragon's breath" nozzle which was like a cone spray. Supposedly much more efficient than a fan nozzle or shower nozzle, but still not remotely close to a 5x stream nozzle or larger. I have a 2200e waiting for me at home and I'm hoping that it has a larger nozzle, but it probably won't.

So why did they stop making them?
Another thing: at one point, every person in my family was issued their own storm pistol. After three weeks, about half of the storms had their pumps stop working properly[the internal piston was coming unglued]. How could I have fixed that, and was that common with all the pistols?

You probably just answered your own question in a sense. If have of the Storm Water Guns ended up failing, that doesn't bode well for how well they were made and likely saw a number of returns or lower sales. Granted, I haven't had any problems with the Storm Water Guns I have, but then again, I haven't used them as heavily as others would.spitfire wrote:So why did they stop making them?

To me, the dual-pumping nature of the air pump charges the blaster with fewer total cycles, but having significant resistance on the outward stroke during pumping does not feel natural to me. It is easier for me to squeeze the pump in with added force as opposed to extended the pump needing the extra force. That coupled with limited output when compared with the Super Soaker blasters at that time probably spelled the demise for that brand. The light-up-your-streams feature is cute, but only worked well in rather dark conditions. Few had water battles at night as compared to during the day and the lighted streams, while looking cool, also serves to give your position away more quickly, too.

Hey Spitfire, that's very interesting. You don't happen to still have those Storms around do you? I have never had any problems with Storm pumps and I put my 750 and 2500 through some intense fighting over the years. My 750 ended up having a problem with the firing pin/spring which I think I can fix if I finally get around to it. My 2500 never really failed, but the pump is so roughed up and cracked from poor use (including salt water and mud...long story) that it's impractical to use.
I don't know the inside story, but my guess is that over time people decided that there wasn't enough difference in Storms to buy a new one or replace a broken one. Every single Storm gun had the same size nozzle. Two, that I'm aware of, also featured larger nozzles, and one of these was a rarer model. As iSoaker mentioned, the photon beam is pretty cool but wouldn't really see much use as most water fights happen during the day. Storm also had the ability to connect directly to a hose, but this was pointless since there are hose nozzles out there that are much more powerful than Storm guns.

I just thought of something that would be amazing cosmetic mod.
Picture a storm gun painted and shaped like a Star Wars blater. The photon beam would look like the blast, an I imagine some night dark filming of one of these (firing tap shots) vesus one of those prop lightsabers would look amazing.

Beware the PurpleWell, not that much soakage.
Re: Value of a Storm Water Gun
Marauder,
the storms we received were brand new, and, as we rarely had water fights, were kept in good condition. I also had a used 750 storm- best factory made gun I've ever used.
Oh, and do you know what a monster x would cost?

Monsters go for relatively expensive for their shelf space/size. You would be lucky to get a good Monster X on ebay for ~$45. I've seen some at $125; they're still there.

Re: Value of a Storm Water Gun
Because an MX is only worth like $50. I've yet to see one of those attempts at price inflation actually work. Ubuywizer will have those things sitting on his hands forever unless he comes down in price.I've seen some at $125; they're still there.

Xactly. Over Double the Price? Forget'about'it!
I'd bet my XP 250 that no one's going to buy that. If someone does, I'll look them up and check if they're mental.

I'd take you up on that bet if I had the ability to purchase online right now. And as of my mentality, worst thing you'll find is my recent obsession with waterguns... oh wait, I keep forgetting that around here that's normal-
