Flash Flood Internal Pics

As with opening almost every water blaster, after removing all the screws, the toughest part is typically popping off the glued on nozzle and pump caps. When opening my own Flash Flood, I was forced to cut/tear the pump cover using a knife and some prying using a flathead screwdriver as well as grabbing the two halves of the outer casing and using them for leverage. It was far from an elegant solution, but it worked. Basically ended up tearing parts of the cover, but did manage to open the blaster. I would presume some may have a more elegant solution, but as that piece was no too critical for my needs, I didn't worry much about it.

ouch, were you able to put it back together and use it as normal afterwards, as i am making some minor mods and repairing the trigger mechanism?

I opened my Flash Flood to do a trigger repair on the stream nozzle (nozzle wasn't closing properly so I reinforced it with some rubber bands). Thanks to all the other screws, the Flash Flood closed without problem, just that the pump cap no longer looked "stock". Of course, to ensure the pump, itself, wouldn't slide out on use, I did keep the pump cap in place. If ever, I could have also re-inforced that area with some tape, but I didn't feel it was necessary. If you can take pics of your soaker and where you're having problems with the pieces, some may be able to offer their thoughts on how best to tackle the problem.

Good luck!

Either iSoaker, SSCentral, or perhaps both reposted an article I wrote up about flash flood repairing, but since I can't find the link to any of them...

What I did was I took a flat head screwdriver and a hammer and created a seam right in between the cap. Just be careful and make sure the head of the screwdriver doesn't go into the pump rod itself (or go in too much) or worse, into your fingers. Although this process is somewhat slow, its cleaner and more accurate than using any kind of saw which probably won't be able to reach the area. Now, as you go along, the piece will sort of go inward a bit, creating a channel of support for the pump rod, so you may have to change directions when you get near the pump rod; it should start going downward instead of towards the rod. This will all make sense when you get to it.

After that the gun should open. If not, check for a screw under the flash flood trigger.

Okay guys thanks for the help, as im only new to this sort of stuff, i just propped the part of the casing up with something then placed the elastic band in the correct place. Thanks a lot for your contributions.

Jim

EDIT: okay somethings wrong, i just tested the FF, and it doesnt work. The trigger returns to its original place but the water gets pumped straight out the nozzle, any tips??

Check the valves and make sure they're closed completely when the trigger is not being operated. Otherwise, you might get a problem where the valve does not open properly, which has happened to me many times. (seems like you have to find the right rubber band and tie it on so that there is enough force and is not being stretched when the trigger's not operated.)

Sorry, C-A_99, but all I have from you is a picture at the bottom of this page. As far as I can tell, I don't have any complete article. Do you still happen to have a copy of it?

I think he's talking about this: http://forums.sscentral.org/t4522/ I had forgotten about that, so I'll add it to the website later today.
