Okay, a little help needed please! I recently bought an SC 500 for $5 and it has a problem: after only about 4 pumps, the pressure relief valve kicks in and spits the water back into the reservoir. Has anyone had this problem before, and can anyone offer any advice on what to do? I was thinking that a CVF would be the only solution, but I thought that someone else might have a better idea. Thanks in advance for any help.

Good deal on that SC 500.

You could attempt to repair the valve, though I am unsure how that could be done. A check valve freeze should definetly repair your water gun. You could also remove the defective valve and replace it with a valve that operates similarly if you would like to retain that feature. :)

I've seen that sort of problem occur on some soakers as they get older. Have you tried giving it a full charge using the QFD? The problem may fix itself with a little use. Otherwise, attempting to repair the overpressure valve is likely rather difficult and you may simple opt, as Doom noted, to just freeze the check valve and just be wary when pumping up the PC afterwards.

Thanks for your input, guys. I did try filling with the QFD, however it just slowly pushes the water back into the reservoir when you take it off. I have no idea how a valve repair could be done, so I'll just do a CVF I think. I'll let you guys know how it goes. Thanks for your help!

I just have to comment on how cool this gun is though...I was suprised at how much power the stream had when I first pulled the trigger, yet the gun is so small! Plus it's CPS, which is a real bonus. Can't wait to have it fixed so I can try it out properly.

Well, all went well with the gun. The CVF (my first ever) wasn't too difficult and everything seems to be fixed, although I'll have to be careful about how much I pump the gun up now. There was also a VERY leaky pump on this thing as well, so I stuck a new O-ring on and then put vaseline on it...now completely leak free but still quite smooth. Overall I am quite pleased with this little beast, pretty much a miniaturized version of the bigger CPS'es. A worthy addition to the arsenal!
