XP 95 repair

Post by soakinader » Wed Jun 05, 2013 8:32 pm

So I finally got around to taking apart my XP 95. It's in great condition, but it seems to have a small leak.

Oh did I mention it ALSO has the tubing broken in three places??
When I pump it the air seems to leak out somewhere. Technically it should still be able to build up pressure right?
Interestingly enough, it would be easy to take the pump out and use it for something else. IDK, should I try and fix it or not?

if you just cover the broken area in JB water weld, it will dry rock solid and work fine. the pump is however, the best feature of this gun, so whatever you do, keep it.

Yeah that definitely warrants at least trying. I would consider JB weld or some other epoxy for sure. Although, I'd really be interested in replacing the internals all together with brass.

Yeah, I'd definitely like to fix it. I was planning to, I just hope that there isn't anything else wrong with it after I have gone crazy with the glue. I have JB Kwik (JB Weld) that I have used in the past for fixing other guns (but I don't have it with me ATM).
In your opinion, is it worth buying Water Weld just for fixing water guns? I know that the JB Weld I have been using couldn't hold together my CPS 3000's pressure chamber (although I think it might have worked if I had clamped it) but has worked wonders on a lot of things. I don't mind buying some 'Miracle Glue' if it works the first time, every time.
Is there a glue thread? Recently I have discovered solvent welding, it's great.

Water weld is definitely worth it. I used to use JB kwik, and everything that jb kwik couldn't do, water weld can. Plus, its easier and less messy. It dries harder than plastic, and doesnt dry out if you leave the package open. Trust me, you want it. One tube will will last quite a while too.

Water Weld is great, but one thing that scares me is that the packaging says "this product contains materials known to the state of California to cause cancer."

I wouldn't be too worried, seeing as *everything* causes cancer in California, it's the ultimate nanny state. We handle PVC cement and primer for every homemade and it splashes highly toxic crap all over us. The fumes alone can knock you out. The same can be said for spray paint. Spray a bug with just a short puff and watch it die in seconds. Oh, and then there's sawing PVC, which releases cancer clouds.
