I have 2 Max-D 5000's and tried to take one apart. I got all the screws out, but can't get the part around the base of the pump apart.

Can anyone help?

Sorry about the title of this topic... I knid of messed up there.

This topic belongs in The Armoury.

As for getting the pump cap off, there are many ways, but no absolute guaranteed easy way. I've gotten pump caps off through a lot of prying and working apart using a flat head screwdriver and a knife.

I don't have a max D 5000 anymore (had two at one time) but I'm guessing it's not a screw off type. What I typically do is try to pop those things off witha flat head screwdriver that way you can get it open but it'll still be there to work later.

Will it damage the pump cap though?

Not if you are careful. :p You can get it off, don't worry. Once you wedge a little screwdriver in, it will pop right off.

Ok I'll try that.

I tried it and it worked, however it chewed it up quite a bit. Thanks.

Now that its apart, is there any way I can mod it to make it shoot farther?

If you have epoxy, CVF it and make it a Max-P 5000 (just epoxy everything that could possibly pop out, so it really works!) There is a post on Super Soaker central, but it is very vague
